what is sea glass?
Sea glass began its journey as a shard of glass that ended up in the ocean or large lake, and over time (often hundreds to thousands of years) was tumbled by waves eventually getting washed up on the shore as a beautifully smooth, frosted gem. Authentic sea glass has a certain brilliant appearance that can not be achieved by man-made techniques, therefore, each piece is truly unique in its shape, size, texture and color. Sea glass shows up in a variety of colors, however, some colors such as orange, red and turquoise are extremely rare.
All of the sea glass that the artist uses in her jewelry is genuine and has been found by either herself or by family and friends. The artist's collection consists of pieces found along the shores of Washington, California and the Hawaiian islands. Each piece of jewelry is designed with the character of the sea glass in mind and is never altered, giving you a one of a kind work of art.
